DIY Banana Peel Water Fertiliser For Plant Growth

Collect Banana Peels: Save banana peels from your kitchen. Use peels from 2-3 bananas for a moderate batch of fertilizer. Ensure they are fresh and pesticide-free for optimal benefits.

Chop or Tear Peels: Cut the peels into smaller pieces to increase the surface area, making it easier for the nutrients to leach into the water during soaking.

Soak in Water: Place the chopped peels in a jar or container and fill it with water. Use a quart-sized jar for 2-3 peels. Seal the jar with a lid or cover.

Steep for 24-48 Hours: Let the peels soak in the water for at least 24-48 hours. This allows nutrients like potassium, phosphorus, and calcium to infuse into the water.

Strain the Liquid: Remove the banana peels and strain the liquid into a clean container. Discard the peels in compost or bury them in the soil for added enrichment.

Dilute Before Use: Mix one part banana peel water with two parts regular water to avoid over-fertilizing. This dilution ensures safe nutrient levels for your plants.

Apply to Plants: Pour the diluted banana peel water directly onto the soil around your plants, focusing on the base. Use this fertilizer every 1-2 weeks to promote healthy growth and flowering.

Store Any Extras: Keep leftover banana peel water in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a week. Be sure to let it warm to room temperature before applying to your plants.
